Two things I've come to realize over the by year are that my obsession with my blog borders on unhealthy, and my parent guilt is annoying.

Every minute of every day has me thinking most, tweaking, working on my blog, and sometimes I accept to put my laptop in a separate room to keep me from jumping on just to check my Facebook folio for a sec, or pinning a few more DIY projects.

The judgmental part of my brain keeps telling me I'm not paying enough attention to my kids, not instruction them enough, not feeding them the best, healthiest foods possible, setting poor examples for them, and and so on. In fact, just writing this is making me beginning to hyperventilate.

No wonder I'thou so in beloved with naps. Many times I don't fifty-fifty slumber, I only clamber into my big, soft bed with my yellow comforter, have a few deep breaths, let the world disappear and afterward my brain thanks me it starts wandering around aimlessly. It feels Cracking. It feels light, and empty in the way that you desire to feel light and empty. Like a trivial fairy.

In lieu of riding the residual of my days out in bed, I've been trying to figure out how to get that feeling in everyday life. How to quiet the voices that are harping on me to make my blog- and my parenting manner- better. I've contemplated screaming SHUT UP actually loudly every time a self-judgmental thought begins to creep in, just that might testify to be slightly alarming for those around me.

Instead, I signed up for a damn class on Creativebug, and guess who my teacher is? Lisa Congdon! Yep, she's teaching me how to explore cool fine art techniques in a sketchbook, because my fine art-making voice also tends to be judgmental. It'due south so refreshing to be able to let get of coming upward with my ain ideas and follow someone else's lead for a change. I've decided to merely re-create what she is showing us how to practise- non exactly, of class, but I'll use her style and techniques as a stepping-off point, and become from there.

What I love about this class is that it's set up equally a "piece of work-forth", which means it's a 4 part class, spread out over the entire calendar month. I really ran out to Michael'southward yesterday and spent $65 on materials for the class, and I'one thousand giddy.

I signed up for a month of Creativebug, and at $four.95 per month, you lot can binge-watch classes if you desire. I actually contemplated doing that, but I think I'll refrain and give myself the gift of an ongoing subscription. It feels skillful to be spending a small amount of money on MYFREAKINGSELF to learn new crafty techniques.

Next upwardly volition be Lisa's Bones Line Drawing class, there are a couple of classes that use the Cricut machine, (which I've been wanting to learn more about, and am still baffled by), a leather wrap bracelet class, and several printmaking classes.

The best part is that I tin check out every single course on the damn site and click off of the ones I find boring (um, cake decorating), and stay with the adept ones. Or just lookout man parts of classes. Or watch every unmarried i of them and make up drinking games to go with them.

Anyway, utilize this link to try it costless for 2 weeks, and you lot can check out the first of the 4 classes in the sketchbook workalong I am doing. (The next one goes live on January 13.) Accept the course with me! Have it!

Or at to the lowest degree tell me what you lot volition be doing this year – but for you lot.
